Website Details Hop Varieties

All About Beer Magazine - Volume 35, Issue 4
July 26, 2014 By Heather Vandenengel

Curious about Citra or want to learn more about El Dorado? Head to Hopslist, a new website with an ambitious agenda: to be the most comprehensive source of hops information on the web. Founded by avid homebrewer Julian Healey, Hopslist compiles everything from hop oil composition to tasting notes and a style guide for more than 260 varieties of hops.

Healey, who is based in Melbourne, Australia, spent months researching and compiling statistics, tasting notes and lineage of the hops for the site.

“With so many craft breweries pushing the envelope these days, hop growers are releasing a myriad of fascinating new varieties and re-animating a few long-lost ones, too,” said Healey in a statement. “The idea with Hopslist was to keep track of that by creating a simple, mobile-friendly and up-to-date resource. One that empowers people to get out and experience the incredible variety of hops available today.”

Readers are also encouraged to send in corrections and suggestions as Hopslist evolves. Visit the list at www.hopslist.com.
