Anti-Hero IPA

All About Beer Magazine - Volume 34, Issue 2
May 1, 2013 By - -

Revolution Brewing Co.

Chicago, IL

This ale features a blend of four hop varieties (Warrior, Chinook, Centennial and Amarillo) that creates a crisp bitterness and imparts massive floral and citrus aromas.

ABV: 6.5

ABW: 5.2

COLOR: 8

BITTERNESS: 70

ORIGINAL GRAVITY: 1068

AVAILABLE: IL, OH

Creative, revolutionary graphics on the can: a testimony to hops. Bright polished golden color has amber highlights, light by most IPA standards.  The contrasting white, rocky head leaves a lace on the glass as it dissipates. Floral aroma is pleasant and not overwhelming. Plenty of hops on the palate, too, balanced with a malty roundness and slight acidity. Perfect with a medley of winter vegetables (turnips, rutabagas, cabbage, onions and potatoes) with spicy harissa sauce.
- Charles Finkel
Anti-Hero? I anxiously opened not knowing what was “anti” about this brew.  I sniffed, tasted, cried “Uncle” and got all emotional. “Why?” I asked myself. The anti-hero whispered from the glass, “It’s the hops.” I succumbed to the poetry. There’s a revolution brewing in Chicago. Golden, balanced, slightly acidic, full of malt and hop harmonics. You’ll give a damn about this brew if you like IPA.
